The straps hold fine when there is tension on them, but they release their grip with no tension and can be re-positioned with very little effort. As far as size, it fits me perfectly It has enough storage for what you need and the 3 small removable pieces add versatility. The shoulder straps and back padding are comfortable and the chest and waist straps will be useful with a full pack.
