Hemp is an important material to makers in Vietnam. Many cultural traditions revolve around hand-woven hemp fabric, including ceremonies of marriage. Even sowing the seeds of hemp plants is practiced in a mindful way for Vietnamese farmers, as they respect the life within each individual seed. Altogether, the process of weaving finished hemp cloth takes seven months from planting to harvesting to spinning to weaving. Each step requires skill and is accomplished with love.
