Cilantro is the most prolifically used herb in the world. It has been used medicinally for over five thousand years. It was brought by the Romans to Britain. The Spanish Conquistadors brought it to Peru and Mexico from where it has spread north through the Americas.

Cilantro is used in a wide variety of cuisines. Outside the Americas, it is known as Coriander Leaf or Chinese Parsley. It is used in Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Persian, Egyptian and Mexican cuisines.

While it's always advised to use fresh cilantro, sometimes they can be hard to come by in colder climates. In such cases, the dried variety works wonders.
