DESCRIPTION

The focal I used is called Fordite or Detroit Agate. This material was created many years ago at the Ford Rouge Plant just outside of Detroit, Michigan. Layer upon layer, paint over-spray built up on metal racks that transported new car bodies through the paint shop, and into the oven, where each coat was baked hard. This process of painting cars is no longer used so the material is rare & coveted. It's a piece of Michigan history!!! This is the real deal, authentic Fordite created by me, a Michigander!!! This is early, rare Fordite material is from the 1950's. It comes from the Detroit Rouge River Plant, Dearborn Michigan. This piece is stunning with multi color and super swirly pattern. I bezel set the cabochon ( 20mm x 9mm at widest ) in fine silver .999 to a hammered and shaped adjustable sterling silver hammered band. I used a special hammering technique on the band creating a texture that reminds me of tree bark. It's quite beautiful and reflects the light nicely. Band is 8mm wide & size is 7 1/4, but is adjustable up about 1- 1.5 sizes. Sizing down is free...just let me know your size! With a ring band this wide it is best to figure about 1/2 size larger than what you would normally wear with a thinner band ring. Thanks for looking! *Comes boxed with Fordite story card! :)
