This heirloom variety dates back centuries and is a staple garlic in authentic European, Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. Each bulb averages 2 1/2 inches in diameter and contains approximately 5 to 7 very large cloves for planting and very rarely has small inner cloves. Average is 6-7 heads of garlic per pound. Natural Nick's Produce practices only sustainable organic methods and uses only certified organic seed stock and organic fertilizer. I do *not* use animal manure, herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Fertilizing is accomplished only with organic compost, cover crops and organic fertilizers. Only my first rate culinary and seed stock product will be sold. I do not sell inferior culinary or seed stock garlic. German White is a Porcelain/Hardneck heirloom variety from Germany. It is a delicious, robust Porcelain Garlic that is an excellent choice for roasting and cooking. German White is also known as German Stiffneck, Northern White and German Extra Hardy. It grows well in colder as well as warmer climates. Garlic is best grown in a raised bed or a raised row, at a height of 12 inches minimum. Best soil conditions are high content of organic matter, well draining and slightly acidic soil (6.5-6.8 pH). Pick the Scapes as they exhibit the first bend. Scapes are delicious and have beneficial nutrition, especially when minced finely and consumed raw.
