Solitary, cup-shaped blooms are supported by straight, upright stems that are excellent for cut flower arrangements. Plants form an attractive mound of dark green 5-lobed basal and stem leave. Plants bloom the second season when grown from seed. Uses/Culture: Grouped or massed in beds and borders, cottage and cutting gardens. Use in full sun with evenly moist, but well-draining soil. Performs best with a cool root system; well suited for use along pond margins. Trollius performs poorly when subjected to either heat or drought; mulch to retain moisture and keep soil cool. Germination requirements: Germination occurs under cool, moist conditions following a 4-6 week period of cold stratification. Sow from late summer to early fall for germination in the spring.
