Handmade Salamander Totem Round Porcelain Pendant
Some salamanders can shed their tails when attacked. The shed tail keeps twitching, which distracts the predator. The name salamander is Greek for fire lizard, as they were once thought to be able to walk through fire. Poisonous salamanders are often brightly colored to advertise their toxicity to potential predators. Most salamanders are 4 - 6 inches long, although the Chinese and Japanese giant salamanders can reach 5 feet.
