The name of this piece is Full Gale The box dimensions are 15" wide, 8" high, 6.5" deep. Type of wood used in this Jewelry Box is African Shedua with Figured maple for the drawer pulls. The drawers are lined with suede material. There are no stains or dyes, rather only a protective finish, to enhance the natural wood color. There is a secret drawer in this box. African Shedua: The heartwood is pale yellowish brown to medium brown with a reddish cast and gray-black stripes. The color is reported to be similar to European walnut. The sapwood is dull gray-yellow and is clearly demarcated from the heartwood. The grain is often wavy and interlocked. Combination of grain and black veining gives the wood a very attractive appearance. The tree is reported to reach heights of 90 feet and trunk diameters of 20 to 30 inches. Log lengths of 60 feet are reported, but they are often of poor form. Tree is native to: Africa. Figured Maple ~ figured Maple is a domestic hardwood. The sapwood is mostly a white creamy color, but some darker heartwood can be found. The wavy or curly grains produce "fiddle back" figure and sometimes a "black mottled" figure. The trees grow throughout the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, the New England and Great Lakes regions.
