Mule Palm Seeds - X Butyagrus nabonnandii F1 The awesome X Butyagrus Hybrid Palm is one of the most elegant palm for colder climates and boasts the cold hardiness of Pindo Palm (Butia odorata) with the fast growth, elegance and large size of the Queen Palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana), resulting in a palm reminiscent of the coconut palm. While this hybrid sometimes occurs naturally where the Butia and Syagrus grow together in southern Brazil and Uruguay, the seeds offered here are actually the result of carefully hand-pollinating Butia odorata with Syagrus romanzoffiana pollen, with the arduous task of removing all male flowers from the inflorescence of the Butia to avoid self-pollination a time consuming and tedious process. These first generation hybrids germinate well and reliably produce vigorous and healthy but sterile palms. They are well suited to many temperate climates and can survive temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F)
