Pendleton Lahaina Wave Robe | Blanket

DESCRIPTION

The Pendleton Lahaina Wave salutes the islands of Hawaii and its surfers. Lahaina on the island of Maui was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii. In 1779 Captain Cook logged an entry into his ships log (HMS Discovery) of the first European observation of the art of riding the waves. Surfing was an art and sport among native Hawaiians and the Chiefs or Kings were proud to show their mastery as well. Surfing became known as the Sport of Kings. The Lahaina Wave blanket contains mainland tribal designs as well as undulating waves of blue and turquoise which represent the waves near the beaches of Lahaina. The wave images are highlighted by a sawtooth design that evokes the power and challenges of the surf. Unnapped
