Plants produce sprawling stems covered in narrow linear opposite green leaves. Pinkish purple flowers are relatively large for such a small alpine and appear on branching stems from July to September. Uses/Culture: Front of mixed beds and borders, alpine or rock gardens. Plants grow best in moderately moist but sharply draining, fertile soils in full sun; but will tolerate some shade and moderate periods of drought once established. Germination requirements: Germination occurs in 1-3 weeks under warm (68F), moist conditions. If germination does not occur in 3-4 weeks, a 2-4 week period of cold stratification is recommended.
