Nigella sativa Also known as Roman Coriander. Seeds are used for bread topping having a liquorice scent and a peppery-nutmeg flavour. Can also be ground and used like pepper. Direct seed in late spring, as soil is warming. The seeds can also be added to casseroles or breads, used in canning, or extracted in wine or vinegar. Some people grind the seeds and mix them with honey or sprinkle them on salads.
