This beautifully sculpted netsuke reproduction, signed, is a work of art. The Buddha is bare chested, carrying a traveling bag, dressed in trousers and skirt. He appears to be resting, his foot on his bag, fanning himself. The Boxwood is a gleaming reddish brown, the 8 mm Garnet beads picking up the gold and red lights of the wood. The face of the Buddha reflects his concern for suffering humanity. The carving is finely detailed and signed on the bottom of the left foot.
