As they tell their friends, southerners can turn most things into a jelly (watermelon rind, cayenne peppers, muscadines, Vidalia onions). Food tells a story and their products remind people of that. They learned canning from their mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers. They taught them processes, originality and frugality.
