A quick look at the Bronco and it looks like your traditional horseshoe design. But when you take a closer look, you see that the rear cleat is flipped over onto what would normally be the flat side of the shoe, making it perfect for the flip pitch. Prior to this innovation, flip pitchers using the rear cleat as a thumb cleat always had a disadvantage because their shoes always landed with the cleats up, losing the stopping power. The cleats on a horseshoe are like its brakes and before shoes like the Bronco came on the market, flippers literally had no brakes! The reversed-cleat design changed everything! This leveled the playing field and from there, flip pitching took off like wild fire, as finally, there were shoes made just for flipping. Bronco Pro-Flip was one of the first shoes of this type.
