This is the second release covering the Imperial Roman Praetorian Guard from First Legion! Previuosly, the Praetorians were portrayed marching. This time they are portrayed as heavily engaged in combat protecting Emperor Marcus Aurelius, naturally, as the Roman Praetorian Guard was the personal bodyguard of the Roman Emperors.

In addition to their political role of being the strongest armed military force within Rome, they took part in various campaigns and battles including those of Marcus Aurelius. The Praetorians were at least the equal of any other Roman Legion in terms of combat effectiveness. First Legion presents these figures in combat poses, designed to fully engage with the enemies of Rome.

Praetorian Guards wore Imperial purple, black leather lorica segmentata, and steel pilum, making this release is very striking! Pilum were a type of javelin used by the Romans, designed to break after first impact, making them useless to the enemy they were thrown at. This guard readies a throw, his pilum lined up with his steely gaze!
