One of the things I most wanted to see and photograph was a Grizzly Bear, since I hadn't seen one in Grand Tetons. We did not see one on the trails, a bit of a relief, and although I had seen one on the road that passed in front of the car quickly, I was not only unprepared, but too close to focus with the telephoto lens I had in my lap as he passed in front of the car and quickly climbed the small hill and disappeared into the trees.. The last day we were in Many Glacier, we were able to observe one through some of the scopes set up near Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and later we did see the bear on the mountainside, walking very quickly and heading east. We went to the other side of the mountain to wait, and after about an half hour, he appeared at the top of the ridge, working his way down before he crossed the road to get a drink from the creek on the other side.
