Hallertau Blanc is a new hop variety specifically bred to answer the needs of American craft beer styles. It is a daughter of American Cascade and has a moderate-to-strong flavor and aroma, with notes of pineapple, gooseberry, white grape, fresh lemongrass stalk, and passionfruit. It is reminiscent of many recent Southern Hemisphere hop varieties, but with a cleaner, less 'dank' profile. Hallertau Blanc is used as an aroma variety, particularly in the whirlpool and in dry hopping to take full advantage of the very high myrcene oil fraction. Ideal for use in American Ale, Belgian Ale and Wheat styles.
