This 4-layer bow itself is approximately 4.5" to 5" wide. There is a plastic Candy Corn Button in the center. This bow can be mounted on a partially lined alligator clip or a (3") French Barrette. The chick will be upside down if you put your child's hair back to one side and you order the wrong side. If you are simply wearing the bow above a ponytail, then the side doesn't matter.
