Hand-blown Glass Pitcher Made in Ireland

This handmade tapered pitcher is 9 inches tall with a top diameter of 3 inches and holds 40 fl oz (2.5 pints). It is available in two color ranges, Heather and Seascape with a decorative handle that has the trademark Jerpoint "swirl" at base. JERPOINT GLASS STUDIO: For almost 40 years Jerpoint Glass has created beautiful handmade glassware from the family run glassblowing studio in the heart of Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. From the fiery furnace to your table, at Jerpoint Glass each piece is individually made by hand. The skilled glassblowers form the Jerpoint shapes from red hot molten glass using simple tools and methods that date over 2000 years.

HANDBLOWN GLASS: These glasses are completely made and finished by hand with no moulds used in the making with the result of small variations in size, weight and color distribution. Small bubbles appear because it is blown glass. Bubbles are part of the charm of a hand-blown piece and add character to each glass. The mark under the base of the glass is known as the pontil mark. During the glass making process the cup part of the glass is closed and attached to the blowing iron. In order to open the cup the glass is transferred onto a second iron, the pontil iron, at the base. The glass is then reheated and opens out at the rim. The pontil-mark is the hallmark of a truly handmade glass. It is because of the traditional techniques used at Jerpoint that each piece of glass is unique.

We do not recommend Jerpoint glass products for use in a dishwasher. For best results, polish your glass with a good quality linen cloth.
