Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759-1840) was best known as the popular 19th century court artist to Queen Marie Antoinette and Empress Josephine Bonaparte. Each spring and summer he gave wildflower drawing lessons to Victorians at the Paris Museum of Natural History. Historically renowned as a beautiful plant artist, his floral watercolor pictures and natural science artwork hang in museums and palaces worldwide.
