Fresh opuntia cactus pads. These pads come from our Opuntia ficus indica plants. They are 2011 growth and not old hard aged pads. When you place an order we will pick them. TORTOISE & HUMANS: The pads/nopales and can be eaten by both people and tortoise. They are a super food. These pads are an ecellent food for all totoise species. Here in Florida the wild Gopher tortoise makes cactus pads a big part of its diet. Feed the whole pads to your adult tortoise and slice the pads thinly for your baby tortoise. LONG SHELF LIFE: These pads have a long shelf life of weeks. I have had some on the kitchen counter for months without them going bad. FRIENDLY CACTUS: This variety of opuntia is called thornless (thornless compared to wild varieties which are very diffficult to handle) but actually it does have some thorns but which are easily removed with a cloth or spong. These pads are friendly.
