Bamboo salt is made with solar salt from the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. The salt is chopped and stuffed into golden bamboo which is more than three years old. The openings are closed with red clay. This is then put into an iron furnace and roasted nine times with charcoals made with pine trees.
When it is roasted once with pine charcoal, the bamboo becomes ashes and salt melts and becomes a white pillar. And during this process, the sap in bamboo is absorbed into the salt.
