• Considered a southern cousin to Acer palmatum, this handsome species differs enough to warrant a position in any garden small or large. Its five deeply lobed glossy leathery leaves emerge reddish in spring becoming dark green during summer then flushed crimson in autumn
• The smooth jade green bark is marked with fine white waxy stripes. Grows to 20 meters tall in the wilds of Taiwan but takes on a smaller 5-8 meter form in cultivation. Needs a sheltered spot out of the wind in marginally hardy zones with evenly moist humus rich soil. Needs supplimental water until established.
