Like the amaryllis, lycoris and nerine to which they are related, oxbloods produce their blooms before the leaves develop. Introduced to this country by German settlers in the 1800s, who faced tough conditions to find and found a new home in Texas. They brought the color and vitality of these bulbs and blooms with them as a living link to their past and to commemorate the fulfillment of their dreams.
