It is just a tad over 9-1/4 inch (235mm) long - by 1-3/8 inch (35 mm) wide at its widest point by 1/2 inch (8 mm) thick and is a manmade carborundum stone. Very coarse, just a little finer then a fine file, but not by much. Use it to reshape broken off points on abused kitchen knives or re point the cheap throwing knives you can get at sporting goods stores. It removes metal in a hurry. Perfect sharpener to throw in a drawer or keep in garage. This one does a good job on your large kukri machete and your hand axe, one could also sharpen pocket knives on it by setting it on a log or a table with some rubber sheeting under it.
