Schrödinger's equation is the fundamental physics equation that describes quantum mechanical behavior. It essentially involves subatomic particles, their indefinite location, wave function evolution etc. which gives rise to the idea that matter is not definite; it is only randomly existing in infinite possibilities until it is observed, at which point it 'gels' or solidifies into one reality. The most famous thought experiment based on Schrodinger's equation, is his own 'Schrodinger's Cat' which involves a Geiger counter, random atomic decay that may or may not trigger a hammer that would release Hydrocyanic Acid and kill the cat concealed within a steel chamber. Because the atomic decay is unpredictable, until you open the chamber and make an observation, the cat is thought to be both alive and dead within.
