This is a handwoven woolen kilim rug from the Bergama region of Turkey. Bergama carpets are traditionally woven with symmetric knots. They are typically three to four meters square in size. Bergama carpets often show nicely woven Kilim ends, sometimes with an integrated pile-woven pattern. The history of carpet weaving in Bergama probably dates back to the 11th century. Bergama carpets still exist which date from the early 15th century, and are on display in several museums around the world including Berlin, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. This nomadic handcraft is about 60 years old. It is pretty good condition. It has a wonderful color combination. So earthly, so relaxing and so charming espeically if you like a little bit of purples and lilacs. Wonderful vintage kilim I would comfortably recommend. There have been some repairs in her history, invisible to the eye and the repairs are made with the original wool of the kilim.

The kilim rug is 7.90 x 5.08 ft (241 x 155 cm) .

It is made from the wool of Bergama region and again natural dye extracted from the plants of Bergama. White sections on the kilim are made of cotton. We can show only 9 photographs here. We tried to combine several details of this Turkish kilim rug in one picture. However I believe this is not enough to present the kilim rug perfectly.
