This gorgeous, handcrafted pendant was made with a vivid, multi-colored bismuth crystal, wrapped in solid Sterling silver wire and framed by luscious silver coils and weaves. Three genuine Swarovski crystals add even more sparkle and shine to this gorgeous item. The whole pendant measures 47x36x23mm (1.9" x 1.4" x 0.9") and comes suspended on an 18" Sterling silver chain. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece, since each and every bismuth crystal is unique and each is wrapped to echo the dimensions and morphology of the crystal. Ethereal pink, orange, yellow, green, turquoise and blue hues dance across the steps of the crystal as it turns in the light. Truly a piece of wearable art! Our pendants are made to last. We wire-wrap all of our bismuth crystals to protect them from damage. Drilling weakens the structural integrity of the crystal & subjects it to shattering, while gluing can crack off, or shield areas of the crystal surface from exposure to the atmosphere, which is crucial to allowing the surface to oxidize in a natural way over time. Bismuth is naturally a silvery-white color as a fresh crystal but acquires it's colorful, iridescent surface due to it's exposure to air and oxidation of it's surface. The spiral stair stepped structure of a bismuth crystal is the result of a higher growth rate around the outside edges than on the inside edges. The variations in the thickness of the oxide layer that forms on the surface of the crystal causes different wavelengths of light to interfere upon reflection, thus displaying a rainbow of colors.
