Additional information: This panel was possibly part of an ornate ceremonial costume.  The backing is woven vegetal fibers, covered with cotton cloth. One side is decorated with cowrie shells handsewn onto cotton cloth.  This is probably part of a decorative piece for Shango bag or other ceremonial garments.  Ifa divination plays an important role in the lives of the Yoruba determine their actions or explaining misfortunes.
