DESCRIPTION

Fire Chief Coral Bells is a great plant that fits well into many different landscaping areas. It is a smaller perennial growing up to 9 inches tall. In warmer climates, this plant is largely evergreen, but typically experiences a good deal of fading in the northern climates. This is a clump forming plant, growing in an overall mounded fashion. Although it is most often grown for its foliage, Fire Chief has nice flowers as well. These flowers are small in size, and are white and pink in color. They grow on stems, up to 18 inches high, above the foliage in the springtime, with possible re-bloom later on. The leaves are multi-lobed with uneven edges. They have a great wine red color that provides a great visual element to whatever areas they are located in. Heuchera 'Fire Chief' grows to a height of 7 to 9 inches, with a spread of 12 to 15 inches. It has a flower height of 15 to 18 inches. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 9. Fire Chief grows best in partial shade, but can grow in full sun as well. It grows best in rich, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues. Fire Chief can benefit from mulch to protect the roots in the colder climates.
