Written by Randy Brooks, the song was originally performed by Elmo and Patsy Trigg Shropshire in 1979. In the song the family matriarch humoursly gets drunk from too much eggnog and despite warnings from her family, staggers outside into a snowstorm to get trample and killed by what is believed to be Santa Claus and his Reindeer. The song closes with Grandma falling down the chimney very much alive and wearing Santa's suit.
