Children and adults will love these hand carved soapstone elephant figurines. They are small enough to be carried in a pocket as a totem, can be displayed as artwork, or be played with as a jungle animal. These were hand made near the small village of Tabaka in the Kisii District of western Kenya, where there is a large deposit of mineral steatite, or soapstone. The local people have carved pipes and utensils from this material for many years. Now they carve assorted items sold around the world.
