CORAL BELLS BRESSINGHAM HYBRIDS MIX is the Coral Bells strain with flower power. That is exactly what it was bred to do, produce many flowers. It is truly a distinguished strain. It's absolutely perfect with companion plants of Hosta, Blue Fescue, Lilies and Ferns. It makes a great filler plant or ground cover in those partly sunny areas. They will have more intense color to its flowers with some shade. They are quite lovely when planted with other varieties of Coral Bells like our "Firefly" or our "Palace Purple offerings. Can be DIRECTLY SOWN or STARTED INDOORS; Sow either in late summer to autumn or late winter to late spring (at 65F to 70F). Surface sow seeds in protected cold frames and pots outdoors or indoors in trays or cells containing a good seed starting medium. Broadcast seeds evenly, firmly pressing them into the growing medium surface. Do not cover. Moisten growing medium, by watering from the base. Water well and then drain. Germination can be a little erratic or can be as quick as 10 days, yet continuing to sprout at various intervals during a 60-day time frame. Keep the growing medium moist but not saturated at all times. Thin seedlings once it has its first set of "true leaves", transplant into (3in) pots and continue to grow in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, harden off plants gradually to acclimatize to outdoor conditions at least 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. These plants dislike soils which are particularly dry or have a tendency for water logging. Plant them in moist, fertile, slightly acidic, well-drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well-rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun or semi shade. In full shade growth is slower. Lift and divide clumps of Coral Bells every three years to maintain vigorous, healthy growth. This listing is for flower seeds.
