DESCRIPTION

GODETIA FAREWELL TO SPRING is a flower known by several names: Clarkia, Farewell to Spring, Rocky Mountain Garland, Satin Flower or Summer's Darling. Whichever name is used, it's a showy flower in ranges of pink hues. When planted in mass, it is stunning. SOWING: Direct sow Godetia seeds outdoors where they are to grow from January to May depending on when EARLY SPRING begins in your area. Godetia seed benefits from the cold that happens naturally in nature from late fall thru very early spring for breaking the dormancy state of the seed. Choose a position in full sun on well-drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of 1/16", or only covering the seed lightly with its own depth of soil to exclude light. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. When the weather warms, germination usually takes 21 - 28 days. When Clarkia seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 8" apart. Although we recommend sowing outdoors, Godetia can be sown indoors under bright growing lights in a soil temperature of 70F, transplanting only when seedlings are strong and all danger of frost has passed. Godetia does not respond well to transplantation so we highly recommend sowing outdoors directly in the garden instead of indoors. Godetia plants benefit from monthly fertilization with a low nitrogen fertilizer. Blooms appear in 30 - 60 days from germination. WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE: a white envelope with rendering/description of flower on front. Inside the sealed envelope, the seeds are secured in a clear zipped up plastic bag.
